Playing Catch — Father and Son

Last Friday night, I picked up my father-in-law for a short trip to Sugarland’s Constellation Field, a minor league baseball stadium. The Sugarland Skeeters are in their inaugural season, independent from any major league team. So why drive 15 miles from my home in Bellaire versus 5 miles to Minutemaid Park, home of the Houston Astros and pay over $100 per ticket?

Easy answer, 7-time Cy Young winner, Roger Clemens was to pitch. Roger, who is now 50, has been tuning up. Rumor is rampant as to the reason for the “comeback”. I don’t want to speculate. I like to believe he is just doing what he likes to do. An added bonus for Roger, his son, Koby, caught the game! How cool is it for a father and son to play together at a professional level?

Another special reason to attend, my father-in-law is a retired minister who just happened to preform the wedding ceremony for Roger and his wife, Debbie in November, 1984 here in Houston Texas.
